Where to Watch Abbott Elementary in Australia: Disney+ Seasons 1 to 5, Season 6 Undated
Updated (28 Oct): Added the Disney+ Australia date for season 6, Thursday 5 November 2026, as listed by Flicks and Screen Realm; Disney+ Australia's own series page still showed five seasons when we checked on Wednesday 28 October, so the "undated" wording below has been replaced.
Abbott Elementary streams in Australia on Disney+, and nowhere else that we could find: the Disney+ Australia page lists it as "2021 – 2025 • 5 Seasons", and Flicks calls it a Disney+ exclusive here. Season 6 started on ABC in the US on Wednesday 7 October 2026, and two Australian listings, Flicks and Screen Realm, give Thursday 5 November 2026 as its Disney+ Australia date. Disney+'s own series page still showed five seasons when we checked on Wednesday 28 October, so treat 5 November as a listing rather than a Disney+ announcement.
Short version:
- Disney+ is the Australian home of Abbott Elementary. Seasons 1 to 5 are on it now, and season 6 is listed by Flicks and Screen Realm for Thursday 5 November 2026.
- Season 5 came in two drops: the first eight episodes on 17 December 2025 and the last 14 on 29 April 2026, according to Disney+ Australia's own article.
- Hulu, which streams the show the day after ABC in the US, isn't offered in Australia.

Is Abbott Elementary on Disney+ in Australia?
Yes. The Australian page, read on Monday 12 October, shows five seasons, a PG rating and the main cast as Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph, with Brunson credited as creator. It's filed under comedy, and the whole run from the 2021 pilot to the end of season 5 is there.
That makes it the same shape as Grey's Anatomy in Australia: an American ABC show that lands on Disney+ here, with the newest season the only thing missing.
When will season 6 be on Disney+ in Australia?
Thursday 5 November 2026, according to two Australian listings. Flicks' season 6 page says it is "streaming soon in Australia from 05 November 2026" on Disney+, and Screen Realm's Disney+ Australia November schedule files it under 5 November. Disney+ Australia published an article in May 2026 setting out the season 5 dates, and nothing like it for season 6 had appeared by Wednesday 28 October; the series page itself still caps the run at 2025. How many episodes land on 5 November is not confirmed.
The one pattern we have is season 5. ABC started it on Wednesday 1 October 2025; Disney+ Australia added the first eight episodes on Wednesday 17 December 2025, 11 weeks later, and the remaining 14 on Wednesday 29 April 2026. NME reports the UK ran the same way, with eight episodes in December 2025 and the rest in May 2026. This time the listings point to a shorter wait: 5 November is four weeks after ABC's 7 October premiere, against 11 weeks for season 5's first batch. We'll update this page once Disney+ Australia lists season 6 on the series page itself.
What's happening in season 6 in the US?
ABC's premiere was Wednesday 7 October 2026 at 8.30pm ET, per a 6 October report from ABC7, one of the network's owned stations, which also notes the show "streams on Disney+ and Hulu" in the US. The same report says Gregory Eddie "is now the Assistant Principal" and that Melissa Schemmenti has a new role as a union representative.
TVmaze lists the next three episodes as "Check-Ins" on 14 October, "Tryouts" on 21 October and "Halloween Party" on 28 October, all Wednesdays at 8.30pm ET and all around 30 minutes. Those are American dates; in Australia the listings point to Disney+ on Thursday 5 November.
Is Abbott Elementary free to watch anywhere in Australia?
Not that we can find. Flicks' how-to-watch guide calls season 5 "streaming exclusively in Australia on Disney+", and we found no announcement from the free services (7plus, 9Now, 10, ABC iview, SBS On Demand). The American ABC's own stream and Hulu are US-only. If a free Australian home appears we'll add it here; until then, Disney+ is the only route.
How far behind the US is Australia?
For season 5, 11 weeks for the first eight episodes, then only a week for the rest: ABC aired episode 22 on Wednesday 22 April 2026 and Disney+ Australia had all 14 remaining episodes up on Wednesday 29 April. For season 6, the listed Disney+ Australia date of Thursday 5 November 2026 would be four weeks after the ABC premiere. The Traitors US on 10 and SNL on Binge show how different the lag can be from show to show.
Does Australia have its own version of Abbott Elementary?
No. It's a scripted sitcom, so unlike The Chase or Deal or No Deal there's no local format to confuse it with. Anything called Abbott Elementary on an Australian screen is the Philadelphia original. Our other channel guides for American shows are in the guide section, alongside The Challenge.
