How to Watch The Chase Australia: 5pm Weekdays on Seven, 7plus Catch-Up and Which Nights Are New

At 5pm on a weeknight, Seven and Nine go head to head with two quiz shows in the same hour. Seven's half of that fight is The Chase Australia, and it's held that slot for years.

Here's the short answer: The Chase Australia is on weekdays at 5.00pm AEST on Seven, streaming live and on demand on 7plus. This week, Monday to Wednesday are first-run episodes and Thursday and Friday are repeats.

What time is The Chase Australia on?

5.00pm AEST, Monday to Friday, for an hour. Larry Emdur hosts. The new batch, Series 17, started airing on 10 August, going by TVmaze's episode list.

In Adelaide and Darwin the east-coast start is 4.30pm on your clock, and in Perth it's 3.00pm. Seven's local stations may run their own afternoon line-up, which we haven't checked city by city, so look at the 7plus guide for your area.

Is tonight's The Chase a new episode?

Monday's is. So are Tuesday's and Wednesday's. Thursday and Friday are marked as repeats in this week's guide.

DayDateAESTEpisodeNew or repeat
Monday14 Sep5.00pmSeries 17, Ep 7New
Tuesday15 Sep5.00pmSeries 17, Ep 8New
Wednesday16 Sep5.00pmSeries 16, Ep 48Listed as first-run
Thursday17 Sep5.00pmSeries 16, Ep 71Repeat
Friday18 Sep5.00pmSeries 16, Ep 52Repeat

Wednesday is the odd one. It carries a Series 16 number but isn't flagged as a repeat, which could mean an earlier-recorded episode getting its first run. We'll confirm once it's aired.

Over a full week that's three fresh episodes out of five. Our count is from this week's guide only; other weeks can split differently, so check the weekly quiz schedule each Monday.

Can I watch The Chase on 7plus?

Yes. 7plus streams Seven live at 5pm and adds episodes to catch-up afterwards, free with a 7plus account. It's geo-blocked outside Australia.

A small tip. The episode number is the quickest way to spot a repeat: this week's Thursday and Friday shows carry older Series 16 numbers.

Who are the Chasers on The Chase Australia?

The show rotates a bench of professional quizzers, each with a nickname. Seven's official YouTube channel has introduced several of them, including "The Smiling Assassin", "The Lightning Bolt" and "Professor".

We haven't matched today's line-up to specific Chasers, because Seven doesn't publish which one faces each team in advance. Episode results go up on our results pages after the east-coast broadcast.

How does The Chase work?

A team of four plays against one Chaser. Each player builds cash on a quick-fire round, then races the Chaser down a board to bank it; anyone caught is out.

That makes every episode different in length of suspense. Some teams send four players home to the Final Chase, others send one, and Thursday and Friday's repeats follow the same rules as new shows.

Whoever makes it home plays the Final Chase together, setting a target the Chaser has two minutes to beat. We describe the format only and don't reproduce questions or answers from the show.

When did The Chase Australia's 2026 episodes start?

The year started early. TV Blackbox reported in January that new episodes would return from Monday 19 January at 5.00pm, with 7plus carrying them too. The current batch, labelled Series 17 in the guide, has been airing since 10 August.

That's why you'll see two series numbers side by side this week. Seven mixes the newer Series 17 episodes with Series 16 ones, some first-run and some repeats, and the guide flag is the only reliable way to tell.

Where can I find The Chase results?

We post the result of each new episode after the east-coast broadcast finishes at 6pm AEST: whether the team beat the Chaser and how much they banked. You'll find them under Tonight's Results and on the show page. We don't publish the questions.

What's on against The Chase at 5pm?

Tipping Point on Nine, also at 5.00pm, with Todd Woodbridge. Our Tipping Point guide covers its new-versus-repeat nights. If you stay with quiz TV into the evening, 10 runs Deal or No Deal and Millionaire Hot Seat from 6.30pm.
