Quiz Shows Tonight, Thursday 24 September: Every Slot Is a Repeat, and When New Episodes Return

Sydney and Melbourne clock times. Adelaide and Darwin run 30 minutes behind; Perth is scheduled locally.

The gist:

• Seven quiz slots tonight, and by our count not one of them is a new episode.
• The Chase and Tipping Point have dropped to repeats for Thursday and Friday, as they did last week.
• New episodes are filed again from Monday 28 September, including Have You Been Paying Attention? at 8.40pm.

Is The Chase new tonight?

No. Seven's 5.00pm episode is Series 16, episode 36, which the IceTV listings behind our week file flagged as a repeat on Saturday, and Nine's yourTV guide carries the same episode number this morning.

The current Series 17 run went Monday to Wednesday again this week. Friday stays on Series 16 too (episode 87), and our Chase viewing guide explains the weekly pattern.

Is Tipping Point a repeat tonight?

Yes, and it starts at 4.56pm, four minutes before The Chase. yourTV lists it as Series 3 episode 33. Monday's episode was numbered 119 and next Monday's is 122, so tonight's comes from much earlier in the run.

That lines up with the week file, which had both 5pm shows as repeats from Thursday. Start times and 9Now details are on our Tipping Point page.

Are Deal or No Deal and Hot Seat new tonight?

Neither. yourTV flags both as repeats, and On TV Tonight's Sydney and Melbourne listings give them no "new" tag. That's the first night this week 10 has run the whole hour from the archive.

Deal's contestant is Alannah, playing to fund a creative space for artists; Hot Seat has six players from Victoria, the ACT and South Australia. How the two shows share the hour is in our guide to 10's quiz hour.

Is there a Hard Quiz on tonight?

Two, both repeats. ABC TV has a Series 10 episode at 6.25pm, and ABC Entertains repeats Wednesday's Battle of the Fuddy Duds at 8.30pm if you missed it on first run.

When are new quiz episodes back?

Monday 28 September. yourTV already has The Chase at Series 17 episode 12, Tipping Point at episode 122 (starting 5.00pm on the dot that day), Deal or No Deal at 6.30pm, Hot Seat at 7.00pm and Have You Been Paying Attention? episode 22 at 8.40pm on 10.

FAQ

Why are there so many repeats on Thursdays?
The Chase and Tipping Point both run their new episodes early in the week, and 10 mixes new and old across Deal and Hot Seat day by day. That makes Thursday the quietest quiz night of the week, and it was the same story last week.

Can I watch this week's new episodes instead?
Yes. 7plus has the Series 17 Chase episodes, 9Now has Tipping Point, 10Play has Deal and Hot Seat, and ABC iview has Wednesday's Hard Quiz and Spicks final. All free with a login.
