Quiz Shows Tonight, Friday 25 September: All Repeats, Then Socceroos v Brazil

Friday is the week's quietest night for quiz TV, and this one is quieter than most. Every quiz slot between 4.56pm and 7.30pm is an older episode, and then the commercial networks hand the evening over to live sport.

Nine goes to an NRL preliminary final at 7.00pm and 10 follows Millionaire Hot Seat with the Socceroos against Brazil.

Is The Chase new tonight?

No. Seven's episode is Series 16, episode 87 in both the yourTV and Freeview guides, and the current run is Series 17. That's the same episode our week file flagged as a repeat last Saturday.

yourTV has it at 5.00pm and Freeview at 4.57pm, so set a recording a few minutes early. Series 17 went out Monday to Wednesday again this week, the pattern our Chase guide walks through.

Is Tipping Point on tonight?

Yes, which is a small change from the week file: IceTV hadn't listed a Friday episode when we wrote it. Nine now has Tipping Point at 4.56pm, numbered episode 28 of Series 3.

Monday's is number 122, so tonight's is from early in the run, even without a repeat tag. Times and 9Now details are on our Tipping Point page.

Sydney and Melbourne times from yourTV; Freeview and ABC's own guide run one to three minutes different on some slots. Adelaide and Darwin are 30 minutes behind.

Are Deal or No Deal and Hot Seat new tonight?

Neither. yourTV tags both as repeats. Deal's player is Nathan Kazuro, and Hot Seat's line-up includes a Trivial Pursuit fanatic, a Kate Bush superfan and a paragliding grandmother.

What's on instead of quiz shows tonight?

Sport, mostly. Nine's coverage of the first NRL preliminary final, Dolphins v Roosters at Suncorp Stadium, starts at 7.00pm with kick-off listed for 7.50pm. On 10, the Socceroos host Brazil at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville, pre-game at 7.30pm and the match from 8.10pm — the first of two friendlies.

Seven has Better Homes and Gardens at 7.00pm. The Block isn't on Fridays; our sister site has been tracking when its auction is likely to land.

Is there a Hard Quiz or Spicks and Specks on tonight?

Both, both repeats. ABC TV has Hard Quiz from Series 10 at 6.25pm, the one with experts in Suzi Quatro, multi-level marketing, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and dirt. ABC's own guide flags it as a repeat.

Wednesday's Spicks and Specks series final gets its late repeat on ABC TV at 9.55pm, and ABC Entertains has a Series 7 episode at 7.00pm. Wednesday's rundown has the first airing.

When are new quiz episodes back?

Monday 28 September. Freeview's guide already has The Chase at Series 17, episode 12, Tipping Point at episode 122 from 5.00pm, Deal or No Deal at 6.30pm, Hot Seat at 7.00pm and Have You Been Paying Attention? episode 22 at 8.40pm.

Why is every quiz show a repeat on Friday?
The Chase and Tipping Point run new episodes early in the week, so Thursday and Friday end up as repeat nights.
