Is The Chase New Tonight? Tuesday 22 September Quiz Shows: Hot Seat Is the Repeat, Deal Isn't

Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Hobart clock times. Adelaide and Darwin run 30 minutes behind; Perth is scheduled locally.

Quick answer: six quiz slots, and the split runs down the middle. The two 5pm shows are new and the two 7pm shows are repeats. Deal or No Deal at 6.30pm is the one people get wrong — it's new, its stablemate half an hour later isn't.

Is The Chase new tonight?

Yes. Seven has a Series 17 episode at 5.00pm, the second of the three new ones filed for this week. Thursday and Friday drop back to Series 16.

Why is Tipping Point at 4.56pm?

Nine keeps nudging it. Monday's guide had 4.58pm, tonight's has 4.56pm, and the pattern through September has been a start somewhere between 4.55 and 5.00 rather than on the hour.

It's not a quirk for its own sake — it buys Nine a couple of minutes on Seven before The Chase begins. Tune in at 5pm and you've missed the first question or two. Our Tipping Point page has the slot and the catch-up.

Is Millionaire Hot Seat new tonight?

No. Tonight's 7.00pm Hot Seat is a repeat, and it's the only one of 10's two quiz slots that is. Deal or No Deal at 6.30pm is flagged new.

That pairing has been running new-new on Mondays and Wednesdays and splitting on Tuesdays, which is worth knowing if you only have half an hour to spare. How the 6.30 and 7.00 hour normally works is set out in our guide to 10's quiz hour.

Did I miss Deal or No Deal or Hot Seat during the day?

Probably not — 10 runs both more than once. The guide has Deal or No Deal at 7.00am and again at 2.00pm, with Hot Seat at 12.30pm, all on the main channel.

Those daytime slots are repeats of earlier episodes, not previews of tonight's. The 10 +1 channel also shifts the whole evening an hour later, so Deal lands there at 7.30pm and Hot Seat at 8.00pm.

Is Hard Quiz on tonight?

A repeat is, at 6.30pm on ABC TV, and ABC Entertains follows with a Spicks and Specks repeat at 7.00pm. Neither is the current run.

Wednesday is the night that counts: new Hard Quiz at 8.00pm, then the Spicks and Specks series final at 8.35pm. Both are in this week's line-up, and how the week is tracking sits in the weekly results file.
