Quiz Shows Tonight, Monday 28 September: Five New Episodes and One ABC Repeat

After Friday's wall of repeats and live sport, Monday puts almost everything back to first-run. Five of the six quiz slots between 4.58pm and 9.40pm are new episodes, and the one that isn't is on the ABC.

It's also a busy night around them. Seven launches a new season of My Kitchen Rules at 7.30pm, and 10 premieres a Shaun Micallef comedy panel in the same half-hour.

The gist:

• The Chase Australia is new tonight: Series 17, episode 12, at 5.00pm on Seven and 7plus.
• Tipping Point, Deal or No Deal, Millionaire Hot Seat and Have You Been Paying Attention? are all first-run too.
• Hard Quiz at 6.30pm is an older Series 10 episode on the ABC.

Is The Chase new tonight?

Yes. yourTV and IceTV both have Series 17, episode 12 at 5.00pm on Seven, an hour long, and neither tags it as a repeat. Larry Emdur hosts, as he has since the Series 17 run started in August.

It's a normal Monday for the show, no sport or special in the way. Tuesday is new as well. After that, Wednesday to Friday drop back to Series 16 hours, which our week planner sets out night by night. The Chasers guide has who's been in the chair this series.

What time is Tipping Point on?

yourTV starts it at 4.58pm on Nine, two minutes before The Chase, for a 61-minute slot. It's Series 3, episode 122, first-run. So the two 5pm quizzes overlap by the full hour again, and Todd Woodbridge's machine gets a two-minute head start. Why Nine does that is in our Tipping Point timing guide.

Are Deal or No Deal and Hot Seat new tonight?

Both are, going by yourTV. Deal or No Deal is Series 3, episode 28 at 6.30pm, and 10's synopsis has Jaiden, an ex-dancer who now plans cheap multi-leg airfares, trying to go seven rounds with The Banker for $100,000.

Millionaire Hot Seat follows at 7.00pm with Series 16, episode 91. The six contestants include Jamie, a flag expert, and Alia, a volunteer first responder. Both shows run half an hour; the 10 quiz block explainer covers how the hour fits together.

Is Have You Been Paying Attention? on tonight, and is it the last one?

It's on at 8.40pm on 10, Season 14 episode 22, new. Guest names aren't in either guide yet.

It may not be the season's end after all. TVmaze has since added an episode 23 for Monday 5 October at 8.40pm, so the run looks to go at least one more week. Until 10 lists it, that's one source. 10 repeats tonight's episode on Friday at 8.30pm. Catch-up and the late start are on our HYBPA page.

What's Hard Quiz doing at 6.30pm?

That's the ABC's weeknight repeat slot, flagged as a repeat in yourTV. Tonight's is Series 10, episode 29, with contestants on Stray Kids, Arsenal and Avatar among the topics. The new Series 11 episode is Wednesday at 8.00pm.

Where can I catch up?

7plus has The Chase, 9Now has Tipping Point, 10Play carries Deal, Hot Seat and HYBPA, and ABC iview has Hard Quiz. None of them charges for these shows. Is there sport on tonight in place of a quiz?
No. We read Seven, Nine, 10 and ABC TV from 4.30pm to 10pm and every quiz slot is in its usual place.

Do the times change next week?
Daylight saving starts on Sunday 4 October, so from Monday 5 October the same 5.00pm in Sydney is AEDT. Queensland stays on AEST.

What's on the reality side tonight?
