Is The Chase New Tonight? Friday 18 September — Every Quiz Slot Is a Repeat

Quick answer:
- Not one first-run quiz episode is scheduled anywhere tonight — Seven, Nine, 10 and the ABC are all running from the back catalogue.
- The two 5pm shows are both repeats: The Chase Australia is Series 16, episode 52, and Tipping Point Australia is Series 3, episode 25.
- The pick of the night is an encore: Monday's Have You Been Paying Attention?, episode 20, returns at 8.40pm on 10.
Friday is the night both commercial networks hand their 7.30pm slot to sport, so the quiz hour stops at 7.30 and nothing fresh follows it.
Is The Chase Australia new tonight?
No. Larry Emdur's 5pm hour on Seven is Series 16, episode 52, tagged a repeat in the guide. That is the second repeat in a row after Thursday's episode 71.
The new Series 17 run has been landing Monday to Wednesday, which is why the back half of the week keeps reaching for older numbers. Wednesday's line-up was the last one with a first-run episode in it — see Wednesday's post — and the nights and catch-up options are set out in our Chase guide.

| 5.00pm | Seven / 7plus | The Chase Australia | Series 16, E52 | Repeat |

Those are Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart times. Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Darwin run to their own clocks, and the state-by-state version sits in our Tipping Point guide.
Is Millionaire Hot Seat new tonight?
No. Rebecca Gibney's 7pm half-hour is Series 16, episode 31 — an oracle card reader and a psychology teacher among the six contestants — and 10 also aired episode 97 at 12.30pm and episode 31 again at 11am on 10 Comedy.
Three of this week's five Hot Seats were new, all at the front of the week. That pattern, and the way Deal or No Deal feeds into it at 6.30pm, is explained in our guide to 10's early-evening quiz hour.

Why is Have You Been Paying Attention? on a Friday?
Because 10 is repeating it. HYBPA's first-run slot is Monday at 8.40pm, and tonight's 8.40pm hour is episode 20 again — the same one that pulled 687,000 viewers at the start of the week.
That makes it the one thing on tonight worth setting a reminder for if you missed Monday. Tom Gleisner, Sam Pang and Ed Kavalee are three episodes from the end of a 22-episode season.
What about Hard Quiz and Spicks and Specks?
Both are on, and both are older episodes. Hard Quiz at 6.29pm is Series 10, episode 21, where the four topics were Peter Sellers, The Chats, beer and the Great Fire of London.
Spicks and Specks turns up twice: a Series 7 episode at 7.01pm on ABC Entertains, then Wednesday's new one, Series 13 episode 11 with Casey Donovan and Geraldine Hickey, back on ABC TV at 9.55pm. If you skipped it midweek, that is your second chance.
When is the next new quiz episode?
Monday 21 September. The Chase returns with Series 17, episode 9 at 5pm, Tipping Point picks up its Series 3 run at 4.57pm, and Hot Seat is back at 7pm on 10.
Which nights carry first-run episodes next week is mapped in our week-at-a-glance planner, and what actually aired across the past five nights is logged in this week's results page. Thursday's anniversary special is written up in Thursday's line-up.
FAQ
Is there any quiz on at 7.30pm tonight?
No. Seven has AFL and Nine has the NRL Women's Premiership, so the quiz block ends when Hot Seat does at 7.30pm.
Can I still watch tonight's episodes on catch-up?
Yes — 7plus for The Chase, 9Now for Tipping Point, 10Play for Deal or No Deal, Hot Seat and HYBPA, and iview for Hard Quiz and Spicks and Specks.
Do these times change in October?
The slots stay the same, but the label changes: Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart and Adelaide move to AEDT on Sunday 4 October, which pushes Brisbane an hour further behind.
